Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the credit analysis team, ensuring that all credit decisions align with company policies, risk management guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This role involves leading a team of credit analysts, providing guidance on complex credit evaluations, and ensuring efficient credit processes across the organization. This position works closely with senior leadership to develop and implement credit strategies that support the company’s business goals while managing risk. The role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of credit risk management, and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of operational excellence.

Job Duties

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the credit team, ensuring that all credit applications are reviewed, processed, and analyzed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of credit analysts, providing ongoing training, feedback, and support to ensure effective performance and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on complex or high-risk credit applications, providing expert insight on creditworthiness and risk factors.
  • Establish and implement credit policies and procedures, ensuring they align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop credit strategies that support business growth while managing credit risk effectively.
  • Monitor credit system performance, identifying risks and opportunities for system optimization, and making recommendations for adjustments in operating systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including TILA, RESPA, ECOA, and other applicable lending regulations.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on credit POD performance, key trends, and potential risks to senior management, offering strategic insights and recommendations for action.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the credit function, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, implementing strategies to increase efficiency, reduce risks, and improve decision-making accuracy.
  • Lead or participate in audits, reviews, and assessments to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and risk management, to ensure alignment and effective communication regarding credit decisions and strategy.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes, and proactively adapt policies and strategies to business needs.
  • Manage and resolve escalated credit issues, including complex loan applications, disputes, or concerns raised by customers or internal stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, degree preferred
  • Work Experience: 6+ relevant experience, demonstrated leadership experience
  • Proven experience in credit management, including credit analysis, underwriting, and risk assessment, with a strong understanding of credit risk management and lending practices.
  • Strong leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team of credit professionals.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit regulations (e.g., TILA, RESPA, ECOA), compliance standards, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to assess financial data, evaluate risk, and make informed credit decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex credit information and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to think strategically, balancing risk management with business growth objectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools, with experience in financial modeling and credit scoring systems.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing credit portfolios and mitigating risk while ensuring business objectives are met.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to align credit strategies with organizational goals and ensure seamless operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex credit issues and provide effective solutions.
