About Helion

We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.

Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group and new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). Now, we're turning up operations for Polaris, working towards delivering the world's first fusion power plant.

More than ever, it's a pivotal time to join us and have the opportunity to solve real challenges to create a better energy future. You will see first-hand how we value urgency, rigor, ownership, and hard truths, knowing it will take each to do what no one has before. Joining us, you will push the boundaries of what's possible and transform humanity for the better - because the world can't wait.

What You Will Be Doing:

We’re looking for a Security Manager to take ownership of our security officer team as a front-line leader. In this role, you’ll be responsible for mentoring, coaching, and driving excellence within your team while ensuring the safety and security of our people, buildings, and critical assets. Beyond day-to-day operations, you’ll play a key role in shaping and executing security strategy, optimizing processes, and creating a professional and welcoming environment for all who visit Helion facilities. This is an onsite role at our Everett, WA headquarters, reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Security.

You Will:

  • Lead and mentor a team of security officers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles
  • Manage daily operational tempo, including scheduling, shift coverage, recruiting, and any on-call, after hours, or de-escalation work needed to ensure smooth operations
  • Foster a culture of feedback, trust, and integrity amongst the Security Officer workforce
  • Establish and reinforce exceptional security policies and procedures, staying up to date on industry practices and trends to maintain the highest standards of security across all Helion facilities
  • Own incident report creation and dissemination to all relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Security partners to evolve and iterate on our Security Technology ecosystem
  • Monitor all Helion facilities, maintaining safety and security of all employees and visitors
  • Provide exceptional customer experiences through communication with guests
  • Partner closely with stakeholders and cross-functional partners to address security-related concerns
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with medical first-responders, law enforcement agencies and external vendors visiting our facilities, fostering positive relations and efficient coordination
  • Oversee the effective use of security technology systems such as access control systems, CCTV cameras, and alarm systems
  • Identify and drive any relevant training and development opportunities for the Security Officer workforce to increase effectiveness of the team and ensure ongoing growth and development

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of high-level security experience, with at least 2+ years managing a team
  • In-house security-management experience
  • Expertise in security related technology, including access management systems and CCTV
  • Preferred experience in a startup or growth-stage environment (ideally within a hard tech or manufacturing environment), demonstrating adaptability in rapidly changing environments
