Job Description Summary:

The Paralegal, R&D/Tech Ops will support the Legal Department by reviewing, drafting, and negotiating various research-related agreements, including but not limited to Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Confidentiality Agreements (NDAs), and Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs). This role will also provide legal and administrative support for the Legal Team’s contracting activities, including managing contract templates, generating reports, and maintaining efficient processes and policies to ensure smooth and effective operations.
This position requires the ability to work effectively across functions and teams within the company, along with exceptional judgment, organizational, and analytical skills. The candidate will be detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, and able to reprioritize as needed to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibility; success depends on cross-functional leadership and the ability to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes without formal authority.Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Contract Review & Drafting: Draft, review, and negotiate routine R&D, clinical trial, Tech Ops (including formulation, packaging, manufacturing, and related supply chain/vendor) and commercial agreements under the supervision of attorneys.
  • Deviation Identification: Identify, flag, and propose revisions for non-standard terms, risks, or deviations from company templates.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM): Manage the end-to-end contract process, including intake, legal review, routing for internal approvals, signature, and final execution.
  • Legal Collaboration: Collaborate with R&D and Tech Ops business stakeholders, procurement, and finance to facilitate timely contract execution.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with FDA and EMA regulations and data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR/HIPAA) relevant to research activities.
  • System Maintenance: Maintain accurate records, data, and metadata within the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system and shared drives.
  • Database Reporting: Generate regular reports on contract status, renewals, and expiration dates.
  • Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate required.
  • Minimum 6+ years of paralegal experience in a corporate legal department or law firm, with significant contracts experience; life sciences/biopharma R&D and/or Tech Ops contracting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong contract drafting and redlining skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage highly sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive alignment across cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority (e.g., leading discussions, resolving impasses, and driving decisions to closure).
  • Strong negotiation judgment: ability to identify risks, propose practical alternatives, and know when/how to escalate.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently/with limited direct supervision in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time-management including the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with CLM systems.
  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Direct experience with R&D, clinical trials, or intellectual property agreements is highly preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate is a plus.

Travel requirements - May require up to 5% of domestic travel

Hybrid position with at least two days on site per week.

Expected Base Salary Range:

$119,700 – $125,000. The base salary offered will be contingent on assessment of candidate education level, background, and experience relative to the requirements of the position they are being considered for, as well as review of internal equity.

In addition to base salary, PTC employees are also eligible for short- and long-term incentives. All eligible employees may also enroll in PTC’s medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings plans.
