We’re looking for a Manager Corporate Communications to play a critical role in protecting and enhancing RAC’s reputation through external communications, media and public relations, and effective issues management.
About the role
As a key member of the Communications and Corporate Affairs leadership team, this role is responsible for shaping RAC’s external voice. You’ll lead corporate communications and media activity that strengthens trust, builds credibility and supports RAC’s advocacy and strategic objectives.
You’ll be a collaborative, confident leader who can influence across a complex organisation, manage sensitive issues with sound judgement, and lead a high-performing communications team focused on promoting and protecting the RAC brand.
What you will be responsible for:
Lead the development and delivery of external communications and media relations strategies that enhance RAC’s reputation and visibility
Coordinate proactive media activity, including campaigns, story pitches, spokesperson preparation and broader public relations initiatives
Manage communications for major announcements, events and organisational initiatives
Oversee all media enquiries, ensuring responses are timely, accurate and strategically aligned
Lead the creation of high-quality communications materials, including media releases, briefing notes, key messages and speaking points
Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets and journalists
Provide strategic communications advice to senior leaders on issues impacting organisational reputation
Monitor emerging issues and risks, coordinating cross-functional responses and supporting issues and crisis management
Oversee media monitoring, insights, analysis and reporting to inform decision-making and measure impact
Ensure all communications are consistent, accurate and aligned to RAC’s purpose, strategy and values
Manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
What you will bring:
Significant experience leading corporate communications and public relations programs, including planning, delivery, evaluation and performance reporting
Highly developed writing and storytelling capability, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences
Experience managing complex or high-profile projects and leading teams to deliver outcomes within tight timeframes
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to influence senior leaders
Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions aligned to strategy
A collaborative leadership style, with proven experience motivating, mentoring and developing others
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field
