L.L.Bean’s Freeport, Maine-based Internal Communications team is seeking a Corporate Communications leader! This role involves planning and executing employee-focused communications, providing strategic editorial direction, and building communication plans that align with L.L.Bean’s business strategy and values. The ideal candidate will be comfortable developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies, managing diverse content across multiple platforms, collaborating with business partners at all levels of the organization, and leading a team to ensure effective, engaging, and inclusive communications. This role requires 3 days per week onsite.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with business partners to analyze the internal and external business environment and create a dynamic editorial agenda supporting our global workforce
Work with leaders across the company to develop communication strategies and key messages that drive employee and leader engagement with corporate strategy
Actively create and edit content while overseeing the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of employee-facing communication solutions including, but not limited to:

Intranet/Email: weekly online news homepage, company-wide web pages, discussion platforms, corporate announcements and messages, crisis communication, site maintenance

Video/Photography: business/strategy updates, corporate recognition program, training & job aids, employee engagement, events

Digital screens: weekly company announcements and highlights

Print: limited print needs such as event advertisements
Support leaders on key project efforts with company-wide communication needs and craft messages that help employees navigate change effectively
Create inclusive communications that foster culture, belonging and engagement across departments and locations
Track and analyze employee engagement with communications via metrics, and adjust communication approaches as needed
Stay updated on communication trends and technologies to advance our digital workplace and enhance effectiveness
Ensure consistent communication methodology and quality across L.L.Bean, developing standard processes and partnering with department-specific communications contacts
Develop efficient processes for daily workflow and file management, including photo storage
As appropriate, contract with and manage vendors for services such as photography, graphic design and videography/editing
Manage and lead the Corporate Communications team including:

Establish performance objectives, assign/ direct work, monitor progress and appraise performance.

Coach and develop employees in job-related skills through work assignments, direct training and development plans, and provide regular feedback, both positive and constructive/developmental.

Recommend and administer wages and salaries of direct reports.

Communicate company policies and procedures and resolve routine personnel problems in accordance with them.

Review and update job descriptions, organization structure and staffing levels.

Assist employees in identifying personal development and career goals. Provide guidance and support in their development.

Experience: Minimum Years of Experience 7+ years

At least 7 years of experience in a Communications role with some experience managing a team

Demonstrated experience consulting with senior leaders

Able to integrate behavior, culture, and brand with communication objectives

Diplomatic and reliable, skilled at working with confidential information

Skilled at simplifying complex information and designing messaging for audiences under tight timeframes

Advanced project management skills, able to manage competing priorities and multiple clients

Strong industry knowledge
