We are looking to grow our Consumer Products team to help amplify member joy and engagement around the Netflix brand and our beloved titles. We do this by developing creative and relevant ways for our members and fans to interact with Netflix off-screen.
Consumer products drive meaningful show awareness and buzz with product stories that allow fans to express their love for our brand and titles, while also generating meaningful revenue. Ideally, our products connect members to our content, and to each other, by bringing their favorite stories to life.
This role is responsible for creating and executing Netflix's consumer products licensing and retail strategy for Korea while staying highly aligned with the larger regional & global goals. This position will report to the Head of Consumer Products - Korea and will be based in Seoul, Korea.
The role requires a results-driven, entrepreneurial leader with a strong background in business development, commercial strategy, and team leadership. The person should be proactive and relationship-oriented, capable of building and scaling a business by bringing Netflix's intellectual properties (IPs) to life for fans.
Responsibilities:
Own the retail and licensing strategy for all CP categories in Korea, ensuring alignment with overall APAC & Global goals.
Collaborate with cross-regional CP teams on global partnerships.
Grow the business by identifying, onboarding, and developing new partners, while expanding the performance of existing licensees.
Develop a merchandising strategy for local original content in partnership with the Content team.
Create go-to-market plans for titles or brands in partnership with internal cross-functional teams and licensees, balancing the goals of driving consumer demand (a proxy for fan joy) and delivering meaningful revenue.
Serve as an internal and external champion for the Consumer Products strategy and push for innovation in partner selection, product development, line planning, business models, and strategic partnerships.
Work collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams from start to finish to ensure holistic execution and alignment.
Develop and manage a retail strategy and Direct-To-Retail partnership to ensure a constant brand presence.
Manage the overall financial performance, including royalty revenues and individual partner performances.
Qualifications:
Experience: 12+ years of experience in commercial roles such as business development, strategic partnerships, brand management, or sales marketing. Experience in the entertainment, consumer products, or IP licensing industries is ideal.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
Industry Knowledge: Robust knowledge of the licensing landscape with a strong network in the Korean licensing and retail sectors. Proven track record of working in a matrixed environment across diverse teams and functions.
Business Acumen: Proven track record of creating and driving end-to-end strategies to build new businesses from scratch.
Korean Market: Experience and knowledge of the K-pop and/or content industry is a plus.
Innovation: Ability to work with and innovate in new sales channels and business models.
Adaptability: Knows how to navigate efficiently while welcoming challenges and driving projects effectively, even in ambiguous situations.
Language: Fluent and effective verbal and written communication skills in both English and Korean are a must.
