Manager, Competitive Strategy & Insights

About the Team: The Global Competitive Insights Team is instrumental in providing strategic insights to eBay leadership and vertical teams. Our mission is to empower General Managers to enhance our market position while charting a long-term strategic path to success, delivering exceptional value to buyers and sellers. We collaborate with key global leaders to identify, synthesize, and quantify market and competitive opportunities across multiple business categories, leveraging our expertise in research, analytics, modeling, strategy, and executive reporting.

Role Overview: The Manager, Competitive Strategy & Insights, will play a pivotal role in shaping eBay Live's business strategy. This position requires strong analytical and strategic skills, the ability to distill extensive competitive data into actionable insights, and the capability to communicate compelling narratives to eBay’s senior leadership team. You will work closely with the eBay Live team, providing market trends and competitive insights to support strategic discussions for eBay Live’s leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze diverse data sources to identify market and competitive trends, translating them into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Examine financial statements and reports to discern key trends and develop models supporting strategic recommendations.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends and insights that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Develop insightful market intelligence, author executive-level reports, and make informed recommendations to the global market leadership team.
  • Conduct comprehensive desktop research, synthesizing findings into quantitative models and qualitative insights to inform business performance and strategy.
  • Cultivate and manage vendor partnerships to ensure high-quality data, proactively seeking solutions to address any gaps.
  • Monitor market and competition trends, providing weekly updates to stakeholders.
  • Organize and manage multiple ongoing projects, developing clear project plans, collaborating with team members and stakeholders, and delivering key outcomes timely.
  • Establish and nurture strong professional relationships with stakeholders to support business objectives and drive strategic initiatives forward.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in insights and strategy-related roles.
  • Exceptional structured thinking, with superior analytical and modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in manipulating large data sets, interpreting data trends, and crafting/visualizing business insights.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with mid-level and senior audiences.
  • Skilled in cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Strong curiosity and drive to understand internal and external trends, continuously seeking improvement.
  • Highly responsible, consistently delivering on organizational deadlines.
  • Collaborative and easy to work with.
  • Mastery of PowerPoint and Excel required.
  • Proficient SQL skills required.
  • Experience in retail/e-commerce preferred.
  • Experience in live/social commerce is a plus.
  • Top-tier undergraduate degree and/or MBA is a plus.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$84,800 - $146,900

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
