In this role, you'll lead strategic programs, manage a dynamic team, and collaborate with key partners to support economic development and customer initiatives. What you will do

  • Performs all leadership duties including, but not limited to, hiring and rewarding talent, fostering an inclusive and safe workplace, partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations, providing timely and specific feedback on performance, developing improvement plans to address performance gaps, addressing conflict with care and respect, identifying opportunities for growth and development, embracing and modeling a mindset of lifelong learning, ensuring employees report to work fit for duty, adhering to our Code of Conduct and modeling Alliant Energy’s Core Values at all times.

  • Develops, implements, and facilitates customer-focused initiatives, including strategic direction of account management, business resources, distributed resources, energy efficiency program implementation, economic development, and coordination of cross-functional teams to deliver desired customer products and/or services.

  • Develops and proactively implements strategic customer account reviews on an ongoing basis to evaluate customer needs, usage trends, market analysis, and assessment of competitors and market intelligence with a focus on future load growth and competitive value.

  • Represents customers internally to ensure all customer interfaces, e.g., billing, account information, and account set-up, create a positive experience for customers. Accountable for the outcome of customer inquiries and complaints, including emergency operations, down-time, and disaster avoidance.

  • Oversees the planning, design, communication, and implementation of enhanced customer services through service delivery channels, with primary focus on the performance of critical processes and systems.

  • Represent Alliant Energy to municipal, local, and state officials for economic development committees, meetings, and events and at conferences to promote Alliant Energy’s service area and regional business climate.

  • May assist local communities in business and industrial park planning, development, and attraction efforts, including sharing information and technical advice on grants, loans, incentives, land use issues, and community planning and development. Includes supporting franchise agreement negotiations with communities and serves as company resource to coordinate the relationship between Community Relations, Legal, and Energy Delivery.

  • Promotes Alliant Energy territories to target audiences through proactive outreach and creative marketing plans, and responses to potential customer interest.

  • May develop, implement, and manage strategic economic development programs and initiatives. Includes conducting in-market site visits, coordinating events, and facilitating meeting with key external partners such as corporate real estate executives and site consultants.

  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of utility industry, economic development, information technology, and regulatory trends to ensure the department is productive and efficient in meeting customer and Alliant Energy’s business goals.

  • Ensures business processes the team is responsible for are efficient, user-friendly, and use the advantages of technology.

  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in business administration, marketing, communications, or related area Preferred

Required Experience

  • 5 years of related experience

  • 3 years supervisory experience or equivalent. (Equivalent supervisory experiences may include project management, providing work direction, leadership experience through temporary assignments, roles in the community or external organizations, or other demonstrated leadership experience.)

Other Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Travel can include occasional overnight stays.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret federal and state safety, energy and environmental regulations preferred.

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to represent company interests with regulatory and/or public affairs stakeholders preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).

  • Works in a diverse and inclusive environment.
