Job Overview

We are growing our Sport and Entertainment PR & Communications service within Strategy and Consultancy at THE·TEAM. The core areas of we operate in are; Strategic Communications and PR, Media Relations and Reputation Management.

Our practitioners work on standalone communications accounts and also integrate into wider agency teams delivering multiple services. We are also a core part of business development for the agency.

We are seeking a Manager, Communications to help support on account work and help grow the wider business. The role will support and report into the Senior Director of Communications, based in Brooklyn. This is a hybrid role, 3 days on site.

We are a new, fresh, nimble service in this market and the role is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to have a major impact on the agency and achieve high visibility with senior stakeholders.

What you'll do:

Your position will generally be split 50% in strategic communications and 50% media relations.

On accounts, you will be part of integrated campaigns for major brands and sports properties. Non-account work will support a new business drive and develop our communications offer more widely; building media contacts and educating colleagues on PR & Communications. Proven expertise across strategic communications and media relations is required. 

The successful Manager, Communications may also be required to help nurture and develop junior members of the team in the future, while providing support to the senior team.

  • Management of key relationships with colleagues, clients, rights holders, media, external agencies and third-party suppliers
  • Support campaign planning based on client insights on target audience, objectives, suitability of media outlets / platforms and budget parameters, as well as KPI setting
  • Helping with messaging frameworks to support campaign planning. Drafting key messaging documents
  • Implementation of all aspects of the communications campaign roll out including media outreach & engagement, general communications, press release creation and content dissemination
  • Campaign review, interpretation of measurement results and recommendations to the clients
  • Event & press day logistics and talent management
  • Supporting the internal team in driving status meetings, planning and review sessions
  • Budget management

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop clear and concise internal and external presentations and reporting
  • Proactively grow our media contacts list of journalists, broadcasters and producers
  • Support the Senior Director – Communications and business development team with new business opportunities such as research and deck creation
  • Demonstrate appropriate behaviors, conduct and professionalism in all interpersonal, written and verbal communications
  • Track time and financial expenses on a day-to-day basis

What we're looking for:

  • 2+ years’ experience in an agency setting
  • Media relations experience – understanding what makes a compelling story (and what doesn’t)
  • Ability to multi-task; you will often be required to work across several activities and clients with tight deadlines
  • Experience ensuring actions are completed timely and to a high standard
  • Presentation skills (both writing and delivery), internally and to clients / suppliers including use of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Attention to detail and organization is critical
  • Agency experience, working with large global consumer brands or rights holders and experience in sport or entertainment are preferred, but not essential

Base salary range: $66,300 - $75k plus bonus potential if applicable for role.
Actual base salary is dependent on several factors including but not limited to; market dynamics, location and region, experience, specialized skills/training (education), level of responsibility, budgetary considerations, tenure at the company (for current employees), etc. The salary range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Compensation decisions are dependent on circumstances of each role
