Job Description Summary:

The Manager of Clinical Engineering is responsible for overseeing and directing the operations of the Clinical Engineering Service for all Central Ohio entities of OhioHealth. In addition, he/she acts as a consultant to other OhioHealth Hospitals. The Manager ensures efficient, cost-effective management of the organization's clinical equipment.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Plans, directs and organizes operations of clinical engineering service for Central Ohio/OhioHealth entities. Coordinates and brings together experience and judgment of all parties concerned with analysis and development of cost-effective strategies to service and maintain organizational clinical equipment.

Provides administrative direction, specific to medical equipment, for major purchases of capital equipment. Assists in negotiation of service contracts with Original Equipment Manufacturers OME s to ensure reliability and integrity of highly technical medical equipment and systems. Works with Supply Chain Services to ensure charges for outside services are appropriate and reasonable.

Conducts internal vs. outsourcing options for maintenance services and repairs. Promotes professional development and training of staff to improve service response resulting in improved customer satisfaction at lesser costs.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the use and application of various types of clinical equipment from highly sophisticated computerized digital equipment to patient monitors. Must be knowledgeable in TJC, EPA, NFPA, OSHA, ODH, and other regulatory and governing agency requirements related to equipment maintenance.
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Biomedical Engineering. AAMI Certification.

Skills Required

  • Five years' experience as a biomedical/clinical engineering technician
  • Knowledge of clinical equipment including computerized digital medical devices and patient monitors
