We are seeking an experienced Cash Applications Manager to lead our cash receipts team in reviewing, posting, and reconciling incoming payments in Deltek Costpoint. This role will manage a team of three and play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely application of payments including ACH, wire transfers, checks, and other forms of remittance. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting operations, intercompany transactions, and cash application processes, with strong analytical and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily cash application activities, including the accurate and timely posting in Deltek Costpoint.
Supervise, mentor, and manage a team of 3 cash application specialists; provide guidance, training, and performance management.
Review incoming payments from multiple sources (ACH, wire, check, lockbox, etc.), ensuring proper remittance matching and account allocation.
Partner with the Accounts Payable, Billing, and Treasury teams to resolve unapplied cash, short payments, and misapplied receipts.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies related to cash application and revenue recognition.
Monitor and analyze unapplied cash and aged items; ensure timely resolution and process improvement.
Coordinate with banking institutions for accurate transaction recording, including troubleshooting payment issues and reconciling discrepancies.
Assist in month-end and quarter-end close processes, including account reconciliations and reporting on cash receipt activity.
Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts, including automation, efficiency gains, and documentation of standard operating procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 5 years of experience in cash applications, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
1+ year of experience with Deltek Costpoint.
1+ year of experience managing high-volume cash receipt activity (50–100 transactions daily).
1+ year of experience with intercompany transactions, GAAP principles, and reconciliation practices.
1+ year of experience with banking operations, treasury processes, and lockbox/ACH/wire remittance formats.
1+ year of experience in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in government contracting or project-based accounting environments.
Familiarity with ERP integrations, banking platforms, or automation tools related to cash applications.
Professional skills:
Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot errors or inconsistencies in cash postings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work with large data sets and complex account structures.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
