Job Overview Summary
This role supports the Business Intelligence and Reporting function as part of the Business Intelligence team at Advarra. The goal of the Business Intelligence Data Solutions team is to provide data infrastructure for the business intelligence team to help the decision-making process, provide insights, and support resource allocation within the business goals and budget.
This position will support the Business Intelligence team by effectively managing direct reports, while supporting the organization’s priorities and strategic objectives. The business intelligence manager builds technical capability, by training and mentoring staff, executing on priorities for the team, assigning work to the appropriate resources, and contributes to initiatives where best suited. It is expected that this position will support a culture of communication, accountability, and growth.
This role also requires a high level of collaboration with Advarra’s Product and Technology organization to balance and manage shared resource allocation to achieve the goals and objectives of the over-arching team and organization.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and oversee data models for business intelligence
- Create and oversee data feeds to Advarra’s datalake
- Collaborate with Product and Technology to sprint planning and monitor teams throughput
- Collaborate with other Business Intelligence leaders to create holistic solutions
- Facilitate JIRA case creation, scoping, and requirements gathering per internal “How We Work” strategy with ability to actively provide context and challenge the pointing process
- Support the team’s performance of appropriate investigation, identification of potential issues, and vetting of actions needed by the engineering team
- Support QC activities as part of the connection development and model development processes
- Provide regular updates on the status of regular work and various project based initiatives
- Coordinate cross-functional requirements with product teams
- Help troubleshoot technical connections between systems
- Support data requests for the business in various forms
- Develop key BI skills: elicit requirements on projects utilizing interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, survey, business process descriptions, use cases, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
- Exhibit a strong customer-centered mindset with the understanding that our customers are primarily internal partners
- Support team accountability for promised deliverables, project progress, successes, and failures
- Share insights with peers and colleagues
- Escalate issues and risks for customer impact from data challenges
- Directly manage and lead team members including guidance in professional development and providing real-time feedback on performance
Location
This role is open to candidates working remotely in the United States.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Science or related area or experience
- 5+ years of experience in a data or Business Intelligence related role
- Advanced technical skills in DataBricks, Snowflake, or equivalent data environment
- Advanced technical skills in Excel and DBT as well as business analysis and data modeling skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to tools such as Tableau and Fivetran
- Presentation skills – advanced with ability to adapt to various audiences from executive level to end user and varying degrees of data structure knowledge
- Strong communication skills to keep stakeholders and partners of various levels informed and up to date
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills including ability to lead others to progress towards a solution
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate and work issues across functional teams
- Ability to establish and maintain feedback channels for team from other functional groups Excellent cross functional collaboration skills
- Ability to give object, critical feedback in a timely manner
- Lead development and continual improvement of any and all onboarding and training materials, tools and curriculum for team
Physical and Mental Requirements

The base salary range for this role is $89,100 - $163,500. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience and may vary from the amounts listed above. This position may also be eligible for a variable bonus in addition to base salary as well as health coverage, paid holidays, and other benefits.
