About the role
AGL has an exciting opportunity for a Business Improvement & Training Manager to join our AGL Macquarie team at Bayswater Power Station, supporting operational excellence, workforce capability, and business transformation across one of Australia’s largest thermal generation assets.
Location: based on-site at Bayswater Power Station, Muswellbrook NSW.
This is a critical leadership role embedded within a complex, asset-intensive environment where safety, reliability, and continuous improvement are paramount. You’ll work closely with operations, maintenance, and site leadership teams, driving initiatives that enhance workforce capability, optimise processes, and lift overall plant performance.
You’ll play a key role in shaping how the business evolves, leading strategies across transformation, training, and digital innovation. With regular on-site engagement, you’ll build strong relationships with frontline teams while influencing enterprise-wide initiatives that improve efficiency, compliance, and operational readiness.
What you’ll be doing
Strategic leadership of business transformation and workforce capability programs aligned to operational and digital objectives
Driving business improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and data-led methodologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and performance
Leading the design and delivery of training and competency frameworks to meet regulatory, safety, and operational requirements
Partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to identify and deliver high-value improvement opportunities
Championing the use of AI, automation, and data analytics to streamline processes and support decision making
Overseeing a portfolio of transformation initiatives, managing delivery against KPIs, budgets, and milestones
Embedding change management practices to ensure sustainable adoption of new systems, processes, and ways of working
What you’ll bring
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Training/Education, or a related discipline
Proven experience leading business improvement or transformation programs within complex operational or industrial environments
Strong capability in designing and delivering training, competency, and workforce development frameworks
Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or similar methodologies to drive measurable outcomes
Deep understanding of digital tools, AI, or data analytics to support process optimisation and decision making
Highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work across all levels of the business
