The Commercial segment is the fastest growing in the market, driven by the adoption of innovative payment solutions and replacing traditional physical corporate cards, cash and invoice-based payments. Product management at Mastercard is a truly engaging function where we deploy our Product Management Excellence Framework that is led by a design thinking methodology to understand our end user and to differentiate Mastercard from its competition.
The role reports to the Head of Commercial Payments Solutions in Japan and will be responsible for the execution of strategy to scale our existing solutions with a primary focus on the development, management and localization of programs within the commercial product segment that will deliver differentiation in the marketplace for Mastercard in our key segments SMEs (SME), Corporate Travel (T&E), and Supplier Payments (B2B) to create world-class solutions and partnerships to help businesses of all sizes streamline how they manage payments when buying or selling products & services.
This successful applicant will have an unrivaled opportunity to impact untapped segments where Cash still dominates, to develop "market de-facto standard" in commercial payment flows, and to create an epoch of big change by digitalizing and optimizing corporate payments/expense management process in next decade.
Role: • Develop and execute commercial products strategy in Japan based on a deep understanding of the segment through benchmarking, competitive analysis, research and recommended best practices in alignment with Mastercard global and regional strategies.• Own and manage the development and deployment of new Commercial products and solutions, partnerships and programs, and product pricing.• Define optimal business model and value proposition for Commercial products in Japan to enable Mastercard to capture new payments flows, drive revenue and market share growth.• Optimize and expand Commercial Product portfolios of existing Issuers and Commercial Payments Specialists and support new issuance opportunities by working closely with Issuers, Acquirers, PSP, Fintech's and other ecosystem players to deliver new solutions.• Be a subject matter expert and liaison for Commercial products externally for the customers and internally for the global and regional Commercial product management teams.• Support the Japan sales team with the tools and product materials to sell the value of Commercial Products to new Issuers, Acquirers, Corporates & Governments• Manage 3rd party vendors according to the contracted SLAs as per negotiated agreements.• Collaborate and build relationships with cross functional teams to ensure success of Commercial product strategy
All about you:• In depth understanding of the payments industry with 8+ years overall direct experience in payment product development and management• Deep understanding of Commercial customer business processes/needs and the ability to translate those into product requirements and new solutions• Thorough understanding of the commercial payment partnerships within issuing, acquiring and processing communities.• Demonstrated multi-disciplinary knowledge, i.e. product development, business development, marketing, operations, risk, emerging technologies, etc.• Strong operational/technical background with excellent IT literacy within the payments and financial services industries• Able to influence external customers and internal business partners, at all levels, and drive towards results within a highly matrix organization.• Ability to perform under minimum supervision with a strong sense of urgency• Required languages: native level Japanese and fluent English.• B.A./B.S. Degree required. MBA valued
