Role Overview
The Manager, Business Development is a key commercial role within Mastercard's Government, Acceptance & Partners (GAP) team. The role is responsible for driving business development initiatives across public sector entities, acceptance use cases, and ecosystem partners to support both direct and indirect revenue growth.
The position requires strong commercial execution capabilities, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate strategy into scalable business outcomes across Northern Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Commercial Execution • Identify, develop, and execute new business opportunities across government, acceptance, and partner-led channels • Support revenue growth through acceptance expansion, new payment flows, and user-pay services • Contribute to the execution of divisional and country strategies by translating priorities into concrete initiatives • Support Mastercard's engagement with public sector stakeholders, including national and local government entities • Drive initiatives related to public sector payment use cases such as B2G and G2B flows • Build and manage relationships with strategic partners, intermediaries, and enablers
Cross-Functional Collaboration • Operate effectively in a cross-functional and matrix environment • Collaborate closely with Services Sales, Specialist Sales, Product, and Country teams • Ensure alignment and effective execution across internal and external stakeholders
All About You • Experience in business development, partnerships, commercial roles, or related functions • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills • Commercial mindset with an ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution • Fluent in Dutch and English
Preferred Experience • Exposure to public sector, government, or regulated environments • Understanding of payments, acceptance, or ecosystem-based business models • Experience working across multiple markets or in a regional role • Comfortable operating in a matrix organization
