The Manager of Assessments is responsible for leading the strategic implementation and operational excellence of local, state, and national assessment programs across KIPP Texas. This role manages the lifecycle of assessment data—from the creation of distribution systems to the analysis of results—to ensure high-quality, reliable student achievement data for all schools. The Manager leads a team of coordinators to ensure that every campus is compliant with state and national testing requirements while fostering a data-driven culture that supports students on their path to and through college.

GOALS:

• 95% of students participate in required assessments within the testing window. 

• 100% Compliance with all state and national assessment administration protocols.

• 100% of Campus Testing Coordinators and proctors are trained prior to an assessment window. 

• Streamlined Data Delivery: Ensure assessment results are processed and available to stakeholders within 48 hours of testing windows closing.

• Stakeholder Satisfaction: High ratings on regional support surveys from campus leadership teams regarding assessment training and logistics.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Each Assessment Manager will lead the execution of designated required assessments (i.e. grade levels, content areas, other assessments as assigned).

Strategic Assessment Implementation

• Oversee the creation and maintenance of network-wide systems for distributing required assessments to teachers and students.

• Support senior academic leaders in maintaining strong team operations, including stipend budget management and alignment between teams.

• Partner with teammates to ensure collaboration exists for student accommodations, designated supports, and IT tech integration. 

Compliance & State/National Testing Oversight

• Develop and enforce rigorous systems to ensure 100% compliance with all state and national testing mandates.

• Manage the process of assisting schools on-site to navigate the complexities of high-stakes testing environments.

• Secure and manage external resources, materials, and professional development to support school teams in executing testing protocols.

Data Systems & Analysis

• Create and manage robust processes for all students to be registered for required assessments and progress monitor participation throughout the window. 

• Oversee education technology applications used for collecting, storing, and processing assessment data (e.g., Cambium, Testhound, ACT, SAT, TSIA2).

Leadership & Professional Development

• Lead and coach a team of Campus Testing Coordinators, providing them with the tools and expertise needed to support their respective school(s).

• Oversee the design and delivery of  high-impact professional training sessions focused on assessment systems and testing logistics for instructional leaders and teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred.

• Experience in a K-12 setting as an instructional leader, academic program manager, or assessment coordinator.

• Proven track record of working in school systems that serve historically underserved communities.

• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and managing diverse stakeholders.

COMPETENCY AND SKILLS:

• Expert-level skills in document formatting, spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), and assessment platforms.

• Unwavering commitment to the KIPP Texas mission.

• Strong desire for continuous learning and the ability to give/receive constructive feedback.

• Flexibility and a "whatever it takes" attitude to meet student needs.

Work Environment: 

Hybrid work - Reports to the central office or schools three days a week

Travel Requirements: 

Frequent travel: Regular and consistent travel to various school sites, regional offices, or external locations for work related activities for professional learning, meetings and other work related activities.
