Job Summary:
The Manager, Accounting will play a critical role in overseeing accounting operations and financial reporting within a growing biotech organization. Reporting to the Associate Director of Accounting, this role will serve as a key member of the accounting leadership team and act as the primary coordinator of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Working closely with an outsourced accounting partner, this individual will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, review workpapers and deliverables, and help ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the Company's financial reporting. This role will also support SEC reporting, audits, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives as the organization continues to scale.
The ideal candidate brings a strong operational accounting background, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys taking ownership, driving accountability, and serving as a trusted partner across the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
•Serve as the primary coordinator and leader of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
•Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement support to ensure accurate financial reporting
•Partner with accounting leadership on key accounting areas including accruals (including clinical trial accruals), stock-based compensation, payroll, and other complex accounting matters
•Support the review of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including financial statement disclosures and supporting schedules
•Assist with technical accounting research and the implementation of new accounting standards as needed
•Support external audits and internal control activities, ensuring processes are well documented and operating effectively
•Collaborate cross-functionally to understand business activities, resolve accounting issues, and maintain financial accuracy
•Support finance leadership with ad hoc analyses, reporting, and special projects
•Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance the efficiency and scalability of accounting operations
Education & Experience Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
•5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 (or equivalent) audit experience preferred
•Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
•Experience reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement support
•Experience working with external service providers, outsourced teams, or shared service environments preferred
•Life sciences or biotech experience preferred, including familiarity with clinical trial accruals
•Working knowledge of internal controls; SOX experience is a plus
•Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
•Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to identify unusual trends, investigate discrepancies, assess accounting implications, and recommend practical solutions.
•Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with external partners
•Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable with ambiguity

•Proven ability to take full ownership of assigned accounting areas, from understanding the underlying business activity through preparing/reviewing support, resolving issues, and meeting close and reporting deadlines
What we Provide:
•The base salary range for this role is $142,500-$157,500. The final compensation will be commensurate with such factors as relevant experience, skillset, internal equity and market factors.
