Job Summary: The Manager, Operations Accounting (M3) leads accounting activities that support LRE’s operating assets, project-level activity, and day-to-day business operations. This role manages a team of two accountants and is responsible for the monthly and quarterly close for LRE’s operating entities, journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring accurate cost classification and financial reporting, and partnering with cross-functional teams across accounting, operations, asset management, finance, tax, and treasury
Essential Functions:- Lead operations accounting for a portfolio of operating assets, business units, and legal entities, ensuring results are complete, accurate, timely, and well supported.
- Manage and review monthly and quarterly close activities for operating assets and entities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, allocations, variance analyses, supporting schedules, and project-level transactions.
- Review operating results and balance sheet accounts to identify unusual trends, incomplete activity, classification issues, or items requiring follow-up with business partners.
- Partner with operations, asset management, commercial, tax, treasury, financial planning and analysis, accounts payable, procurement, and other teams to resolve accounting, coding, approval, accrual, and reporting matters.
- Support accounting for new assets, entity changes, acquisitions, dispositions, or other operational changes by coordinating setup, close requirements, and reporting impacts.
- Maintain operating procedures, documentation standards, ownership assignments, and audit-ready support packages; respond to auditor requests and assist with internal and external audit procedures for assigned entities and operating activities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, delegation of authority requirements, and segregation of duties within the operations accounting function.
- Serve as a key accounting resource for ERP, close management, expense, and reporting tools by supporting accurate master data, chart of accounts usage, workflow design, and reporting outputs.
- Supervise, review, and develop accounting team members by providing clear direction, coaching, feedback, and accountability for recurring close responsibilities and special projects.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, special projects, management reporting, and ad hoc analyses that improve efficiency, data quality, consistency, and visibility across operating entities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with monthly close, account reconciliations, journal entry review, financial reporting support, and operational accounting processes.
- Prior people management and project leadership experience with demonstrated ability to coach staff, manage priorities, and drive accountability.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, accrual accounting, general ledger structures, revenue and expense recognition principles, intercompany activity, fixed assets, and cost classification.
- Experience reviewing complex account reconciliations, investigating variances, identifying root causes, and communicating findings clearly to accounting and non-accounting stakeholders.
- Proven ability to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines, recurring close responsibilities, audit requests, and special projects with professional follow-through.
- Self-motivated professional with a continuous improvement mindset, attention to detail, strong ownership of assigned areas, and the ability to independently drive projects from issue identification through resolution.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex accounting matters clearly to accounting and non-accounting stakeholders, resolve issues collaboratively, and support cross-functional business partners]
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Experience in a multi-entity, project-based, asset-intensive, renewable energy, infrastructure, or complex private-company reporting environment preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Office 365.
