Overview
The Global Business Solutions Center (GBSC) is a shared services organization within Mastercard whose mission is to add value to our partners and serve our customers by delivering operational excellence, enhanced customer experiences, and focused business results.
The Manager, Accounting will play a key leadership role within Mastercard's global controllership organization, with responsibility for supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation and financial reporting processes. This position will partner closely with regional accounting teams, controllership, SEC reporting, treasury, tax, and business finance teams to ensure accurate, complete, and timely consolidated financial information across a complex global organization.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, experience in large multinational environments, and a passion for process improvement and operational excellence. This role aligns with the broader expectations for GBSC accounting leadership, including ownership of accounting close activities, financial reporting, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
Role
- Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual global consolidation processes, including legal entity rollups, intercompany elimination activities, and foreign currency translation adjustments.
- Review and approve complex journal entries and accounting transactions impacting consolidated financial statements.
- Prepare and review consolidated balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and equity reporting schedules.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of quarterly footnotes, roll-forward schedules, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Partner with regional accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely close execution across global entities.
- Review general ledger account reconciliations and investigate significant fluctuations, reconciling items, and consolidation-related variances.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Tax, Treasury, Business Finance, Investor Relations, and External Reporting teams to support accounting assessments, reporting requirements, and special projects.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to requests, and providing technical accounting explanations.
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives focused on close optimization, automation, standardization, and enhanced financial controls.
- Identify and remediate risks within the consolidation and reporting processes while maintaining a strong control environment.
- Monitor project milestones and deliverables, aligning priorities and timelines with leadership and key stakeholders.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to accounting professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
All About You
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including consolidation, financial reporting, controllership, or corporate accounting responsibilities.
- Experience supporting external reporting requirements within a large publicly traded multinational organization.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including US GAAP, consolidations, foreign currency accounting, intercompany accounting, and financial statement presentation.
- Experience managing complex accounting close processes and maintaining effective internal controls.
- Prior experience working with ERP and consolidation platforms (Oracle EBS, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, FCCS, HFM, SAP, or similar systems).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets, identify trends, and provide meaningful financial insights.
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives and implementing automation solutions that enhance efficiency and control.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence cross-functional stakeholders across multiple regions and time zones.
- Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and executive-level communication skills.
- Strong customer service mindset, business acumen, and attention to detail.
- Previous people leadership or team management experience preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced global environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and accountability.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
