Position Summary

Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA (Laureus USA) seeks a highly motivated, analytical, and collaborative Finance Manger to oversee day-to-day financial obligations and support and organizational effectiveness across finance, compliance, governance, and operational initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting & Operations Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Laureus USA financial operations while strengthening internal controls, supporting complication, and improving operational efficiency.   Working in close partnership with the Director of Finance and collaborating with the Director of Operations, this position helps ensure Laureus USA maintains sound financial practices, effective governance, and operational systems that support the mission.

Approximately 80% of this role focuses on financial management, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, grant compliance, audit coordination, and internal controls.  The remaining 20% supports organizational operations, governance, compliance, vendor management, and cross-functional initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, solutions-oriented professional who demonstrates sound financial judgement, exceptional attention to detail, strong organization skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative nonprofit environment.  This individual will serve as a trusted partner to leadership by providing accurate financial information, supporting board and committee activities, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency. 

 Key Responsibilities & Areas of Accountability

Financial Management & Accounting (80%)

Accounting Operations

  • Process accounts payable transactions through Bill.com and other financial systems.
  • Review invoices and supporting documentation for completeness and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Maintain vendor records, W-9's, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage cash receipts processing and revenue recording
  • Assist with cash receipts processing and revenue tracking.
  • Assist with expense allocations and coding.
  • Support monthly credit card reconciliations.
  • Prepare journal entries as assigned.
  • Maintain electronic financial files and supporting documentation.
  • Reconciliations & Month-End Close

Month-End Close & General Ledger

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, deferred revenues and other general ledger accounts. Support monthly and year-end close activities.
  • Maintain financial dashboards and management reporting tools.
  • Support annual budget development and forecasting processes.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Support in preparing monthly departmental financial reports.
  • Support in preparing quarterly financial reports for management, committees, and the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain financial dashboards and management reporting tools.
  • Support annual budget development and forecasting processes.

Grant Financial Management, Compliance & Audit 

  • Maintain grant files and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with grant financial reporting and reimbursement requests.
  • Support government grant compliance activities.
  • Monitor grant reporting deadlines and compliance requirements
  • Maintain financial compliance calendars. Assist with maintenance of compliance calendars.
  • Coordinate collection of audit documentation and schedules.
  • Support annual audit preparation and external auditor requests.
  • Support state registration and regulatory filing processes.
  • Maintain organizational compliance documentation and records.

Operations & Organizational Effectiveness (15%)

  • Maintain organizational contract management system and monitor key contract deadlines schedules/.
  • Maintain vendor files and insurance certificated, and procurement documentation
  • Coordinate organizational document management systems and records retention practices.
  • Support procurement and purchasing processes.
  • Coordinate operational onboarding and offboarding activities with organizational leadership
  • Assist with maintaining organizational operating procedures and workflow documentation.
  • Identify and recommend process improvement that strengthen operational efficiency and streamline processes.

Governance & Board Support (5%)

  • Coordinate scheduling for Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Governance Committee, and other assigned meetings.
  • Prepare meeting logistics and materials.
  • Assist in preparing committee and board packets.
  • Attend committee meetings as assigned and record meeting minutes.
  • Maintain governance files and official records.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of board-approved policies.
  • Assist with maintaining policy review calendars.

This position will provide significant exposure to nonprofit governance and board operations. The successful candidate will gain direct experience supporting executive leadership, board committees, and organizational decision-making processes.

Candidate Attributes

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or Finance or related field.
  • Minimum three years of relevant nonprofit finance, accounting, operations, or administrative experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple departments or program teams while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Preferred

  • Five or more years of nonprofit finance and operations experience.
  • Experience supporting organizations with annual budgets exceeding $3 million.
  • Experience managing government grants, restricted funding, reimbursement-based contracts, and grant compliance.
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Experience working with boards or committees.
  • Experience developing or improving financial workflows, operational processes, dashboards or reporting tools.
  • Experience using Sage Intacct, Bill.com, or similar financial systems.
  • Experience supporting remote organizations.

On occasion, this role will also include participation in events, including some evenings and weekends.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000, with eligibility for performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and alignment with the qualifications and attributes of the role.
