GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the accounting and financial reporting in order to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the monthly financial statements; manages the general ledger functions including the development and implementation of policies and procedures and system updates; coordinates and resolves problems with all interfaces to and from the general ledger; supervises department personnel.
The Manager of Accounting and Reporting for the AHN Research Institute will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions, with a particular focus on grants, clinical trials, and compliance with Uniform Guidance. This role requires extensive experience in financial management within a research or healthcare setting, including grant accounting, clinical trial budgeting and reporting, and ensuring adherence to federal regulations like Uniform Guidance. The manager will lead a team, develop and implement financial policies and procedures, participate with month-end close processes, and provide accurate and timely financial information to support the Institute's research and sponsored program initiatives.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates the preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements by following generally accepted accounting principles and appropriately managing resources. Ensures accurate month-end account analyses by guiding and educating the staff and reviewing the analyses for reasonableness. (30%)
- Coordinates the activities of the annual audit and quarterly reviews of the accounting records and financial statements by working with the external auditors and coordinating staff schedules. (10%)
- Establishes and maintains adequate systems of internal controls by documenting and reviewing the controls and recommending/implementing changes as appropriate. (5%)
- Performs all steps necessary relative to hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and discharging employees by following established HR policies. Promotes teamwork in the department. (5%)
- Maintains general ledger and financial reporting systems, including the creation of custom reports/queries. (10%)
- Assists PO Decision Support staff as necessary with budgeting, incentive calculations, business planning and/or special requests. (5%)
- Completes special projects as assigned. (35%)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in an accounting related field, or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree
- 7-10 years’ progressive experience in all aspects of accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred
- Master’s Degree.
- CPA, CMA.

$36.41Pay Range Maximum:
$57.36Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations. The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
