Senior Corporate Accountant – Revenue & Regulatory Reporting (Healthcare) | CPA Required | No Direct Reports

Ideal for CPAs looking to exit public accounting (2–4 busy seasons of experience) into a highly specialized, analytical corporate role.

The Senior Corporate Accountant provides specialized oversight for regulatory reimbursement and revenue analysis as it pertains to net revenue recognition, accounts receivable valuation, and regulatory compliance for hospitals and other providers. Unlike traditional accounting roles, this position does not focus on month-end close, expense management, or general ledger debits and credits. Instead, you will ensure the accuracy of complex AR reserves and state supplemental funding balances, while managing all aspects of Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting and audits.

  • The Lifestyle: 100% Remote (or hybrid) with our Nashville team, and zero billable hours.
  • No Healthcare Experience Required: We will train you on the healthcare nuances.
Essential FunctionsRevenue Valuation & Reserve Analysis
  • Supports a portfolio of hospitals by conducting specialized monthly reviews focused strictly on net revenue, cost report reserves, and the valuation of accounts receivable.
  • Validates that accounts receivable (AR) reserves and state supplemental balances are accurate and properly stated.
  • Develops and maintains analytical tools, profitability models, and financial indicator reports to track revenue valuation trends.
Regulatory & Reimbursement Management
  • Manages the preparation and submission of annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, audits, appeals, and reopenings.
  • Identifies potential reimbursement opportunities, including Medicare geographic reclassification, Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) adjustments, and state/local government funding programs.
  • Monitors legislative and regulatory changes in state Medicaid programs to assess their impact on revenue models.
  • Communicates directly with Medicare and Medicaid Intermediaries to resolve audit and reporting issues.
Stakeholder Communication & Projects
  • Manages targeted projects designed to optimize net revenue and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provides high-level operational feedback and decision support to executive management.
  • Maintains quarterly touchpoints with CFOs to present high-level financial insights (Note: Day-to-day data is highly automated, resulting in minimal routine hospital-level communication).
Qualifications

  • Experience: 1+ years of recent accounting/auditing experience with a CPA firm required (minimum of 2 busy seasons).
  • Licenses/Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Analytical Mindset: Exceptional data analysis and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data validation rather than transactional accounting.
  • Tech-Savvy: Advanced proficiency with Excel; comfortable working within highly automated financial environments.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for executive-level updates (CFOs) and external regulatory bodies.

Detail-Oriented: Ability to audit complex valuation models and identify anomalies in large data sets.
