Job DescriptionWe’re on the lookout for a Management Accountant to join our Cotton platform in Toowoomba, QLD. Partnering closely with the Senior Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of management accounting, budgeting & forecasting, fixed assets, stock control, and finance systems. This is your chance to combine technical excellence with commercial insight — helping shape decisions that matter in one of Australia’s most important industries.
Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly management financials to support the Senior Industry Controller.
- Manage accounting impacts from industry asset procurement/divestment, including Fixed Asset Register, depreciation schedules, and consolidation tool updates.
- Provide insightful analysis of P&L, volumes, revenue, and production cost drivers for internal stakeholders.
- Manage all industry-related queries during annual audits.
- Prepare and review the annual budget in collaboration with the Financial Controller for Ginning, Warehousing, and Industry Corporate business units.
- Support monthly forecasts, tracking volumes and KPIs for management and executive reporting.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register ensuring full reconciliation with the general ledger.
- Support analysis of capex applications, ensuring accurate return estimates.
- Prepare and distribute monthly Capex reports and quarterly fixed asset registers for tax-effective accounting.
- Oversee the integrity of finance-related data within Cotton front office and operating systems.
- Provide project support for system development initiatives and business-as-usual finance processes.
Desired skills and experience:
- 5+ years’ experience in a finance role (industry experience preferred).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge from a medium–large/complex corporate environment, with experience in Australian Accounting Standards.
- Proven expertise in management reporting, variance analysis, GL posting, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Understanding of end-to-end business processes and internal controls (budgeting, forecasting, procure-to-pay, invoicing).
- Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and reporting skills.
Education & Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting.
- CPA or ICAA qualified (or equivalent professional membership).
- English language proficiency required
