We are looking for a commercially focussed and technically strong Management Accountant to join our commercial finance team. The role will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely management accounts and financial analysis for a recently acquired entity. 
Alongside the core management accounting activities, the role will play a key part in developing financial forecasts and budgets, improving finance processes and providing business partnering support.
Joining at an exciting time in the growth of the business, there will be opportunities to be involved in the integration of future acquisitions, system transformation and process improvement initiatives. This will require a proactive individual who is comfortable operating in a changing and fast paced environment with an enthusiasm for improving ways of working. Occasional UK travel required.  

Key Responsibilities
We are looking for someone to:

 Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
  • Lead month-end close activities for designated business areas
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial records
  • Analyse monthly financial performance against budget and forecast, and provide detailed commentary and insights into key variances and business drivers

 
Budget & Forecasting 
  • Support the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles
  • Monitor financial performance against targets and proactively identify risks and opportunities

 
Business Partnering & Commercial Support

  • Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to provide financial insight and challenge
  • Translate financial information into meaningful recommendations for non-finance audiences whilst driving financial accountability across the organisation
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis and reporting to support business performance
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify trends
  • Provide profitability analysis and cost management insights
  • Support working capital and cash flow optimisation initiatives

 
Financial Control & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and relevant financial regulations
  • Support internal and external audit activities
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting quality
  • Contribute to finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives

 

Experience and Qualifications
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA) 
  • Proven post-qualification experience, ideally in a commercial finance or group finance role
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Intermediate / advanced Excel, Power Point and Word
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of accounting and reporting systems, applicable legislation and the statutory and regulatory framework
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and deadlines
  • Results-driven with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Skills Required

  • Fully qualified accountant: ACA, CIMA, or ACCA
  • Proven post-qualification experience, ideally in commercial finance or group finance
