This is a broad, hands-on Financial Accountant role in a PE-backed international group, ideal for a part-qualified accountant ready to take real ownership of the numbers.
Validus Risk Management is a PE-backed financial risk management business. We combine specialist advisory with our own technology platform to help leading private markets investors manage their FX and interest rate risk. We operate across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia, through several regulated and unregulated entities and in five currencies.
Our finance team is based in Windsor. We're looking for a part-qualified accountant who wants more than a processing role: someone curious, organised and keen to understand how a growing international group really works. You'll report to our Assistant Financial Controller, within a team led by the Finance Director, and get hands-on exposure to the full month-end and annual finance lifecycle, with regular visibility to senior leadership. That includes multi-entity, multi-currency accounting and FCA regulatory reporting that most roles at this level never touch.
What you'll do
Core accounting and month-end
- Own the ledgers across our group entities and prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely submission
- Own bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving differences promptly
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, keeping supplier and customer balances clean and up to date
- Produce the monthly financial reporting pack for 7 group entities, including commentary for the Finance Director
- Maintain the fixed asset register
- Assist with payroll processing
Compliance and reporting
- Prepare VAT returns
- Prepare FCA regulatory returns
- Prepare statutory filings across our international entities, including the UK, Norway, the US, Canada and Singapore
- Support the annual audit by preparing schedules and responding to auditor queries
Team support and collaboration
- Support and develop our Accounts Assistants, providing cover and guidance – early experience of leading others
- Work with the finance team and wider business to improve processes, systems and workflows
How the role grows
As the core close matures, you'll take on variance analysis and deeper management reporting, working with budget holders across the business. As you complete your exams, there's a clear path towards a Senior Financial Accountant or Assistant Financial Controller role.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA
- 3+ years' experience in practice or industry; financial services exposure is a plus
- Strong grasp of accounting principles, and knowledge of – or a strong interest in – regulatory reporting (training provided)
- Strong Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables and building clean, reliable reconciliations
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good organisation, and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Confidence to ask questions, challenge how things are done and take ownership of your work
- We use Xero – experience with Xero/Sage Intacct, or with multi-currency accounting, is a bonus but not essential

Skills Required
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar finance role
- Relevant undergraduate degree
- Relevant qualification such as AAT, bookkeeping certification, part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Extremely high attention to detail
- Time management and ability to perform under pressure with tight deadlines
- Strong organizational, numerical, and analytical skills
