Northland Controls is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Chennai, India. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of month-end activities, management reporting, reconciliations, and continuous improvement in a global business environment.
In this role, you'll support the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting by preparing management accounts, journals, reconciliations, VAT returns, and other key accounting activities. You'll also work closely with Finance colleagues across the organization and support global projects and initiatives.
This position is based in our Chennai office, and candidates must be local to the Chennai area and able to work from the office as required.

What You'll Do
- Prepare month-end journals, including correcting entries, accruals, and deferrals, to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting financial information.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, checks, and controls as part of the month-end close process.
- Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting requirements.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and investigate and resolve differences.
- Complete Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for assigned bank accounts.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, records, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
- Coordinate with third-party providers on EU VAT reclaims and track and report on the status of outstanding claims.
- Investigate significant variances against budgets and forecasts and provide clear supporting analysis.
- Work with external accountants and auditors to support annual reporting and audit requirements.
- Review accounting processes, controls, and practices and identify opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations.
- Support the Financial Controller with global Finance projects and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to other members of the Finance team as required.
- Support additional Finance projects and responsibilities based on business needs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field, or finalist status with ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or a comparable professional accounting qualification.
- 3+ years of general ledger accounting experience in a professional environment.
- Experience working in a multinational or global business environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of month-end close activities, general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Experience preparing or supporting monthly management accounts.
- Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and explain financial variances.
- Experience working with ERP systems; experience with NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different teams and regions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced Finance environment.
- Must be local to Chennai and able to work from the Northland Controls Chennai office as required.
