As a worldwide leader in the tech space, MakeUseOf operates at a rapid pace and we are currently looking for a News Reporter to join our team—specifically someone who can quickly get to the core of a story and deliver clear, engaging news content in a timely manner.   

Your Responsibilities

• Scour the internet to identify, research, and write up-to-the-minute news stories regarding software updates, device launches, and emerging technology trends.
• Extract the core of a story quickly to deliver informative and timely reports in a fast-paced environment.
• Think analytically about news sources, providing insightful commentary that applauds or criticizes developments within the industry.
• Contribute reliably and consistently under tight deadlines.
• Input work into our in-house CMS according to our specific formatting and editorial guidelines.
• Coordinate closely with the editorial team for assignments and feedback.

Experience and Skills

• Relevant experience in writing and editing technology news in the English language.
• Expert knowledge and broad familiarity with tech products, apps, and consumer electronics.
• Ability to think analytically and extract the "beating heart" of a story in a flash.
• Proficiency with SEO practices and experience using a custom CMS.
• Must be able to work reliably within a US Time Zone to ensure timely news coverage.
• A self-starter attitude with a passion for helping people get the most out of their technology.
