About your role:
At Fiserv, we are dedicated to transforming financial services technology to benefit our clients. As a Mainframe Software Architect, you will play a critical role in leading the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality software applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that align with our business goals and client needs.

What you'll do:

• Provide leadership and expertise in the design, development, and implementation of software applications to support Fiserv's business goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Perform advanced coding, testing, and debugging of applications to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain and improve existing codebases and lead peer review processes.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers and team members.
• Drive innovation and best practices within the software development team.

Experience you'll need to have:

• 13+ years of experience in large-scale IT system development, hands-on software development experience designing, writing, debugging, and testing.
• 13+ years of experience in mainframe technology including MVS, CICS, COBOL, JCL, and MQ that support large payment processors.
• 13+ years of experience in the financial industry, especially with mainframe experience with a financial payments platform or similar.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, emotional intelligence, with the ability to listen, advise, empathize, and explain to varied audiences, at all levels.
• Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to see the connections between layers of business operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, and/or equivalent military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

• Technical experience in DB2 and relational databases.
• Experience in Java or similar development.
