Mainframe Developer

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mainframe Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mainframe technologies while also being knowledgeable about modern technology platforms such as mobile, cloud, IoT, and blockchain. This role requires a solid grasp of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Software Requirements:

• Strong understanding of technology platforms, including mobile, cloud, IoT, and blockchain.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

Overall Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather technology requirements and design solutions that fulfill business needs.
• Develop technical specifications and detailed documentation for new features and enhancements.
• Stay updated on the latest technology trends and advancements, recommending ways to integrate them into existing solutions.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure the quality and maintainability of the codebase.
• Participate in resolving technical issues and provide technical support to team members.
• Work with the testing team to ensure that software solutions are thoroughly tested and meet quality standards.

Category-wise Technical Skills:

• Mainframe Technologies:

  • Proficiency in mainframe programming languages such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.

• Additional Technologies:

  • Strong technical skills in mobile, cloud, IoT, or blockchain technologies.

• Programming Languages:

  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.

• Development Methodologies:

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and tools such as Agile, Scrum, Git, JIRA, and Confluence.

Experience:

• 8-12 years of experience in mainframe software development, with a focus on other relevant technologies.
• Proven experience working with cross-functional teams and participating in code reviews.

Day-to-Day Activities:

• Participate in daily stand-up meetings and project planning sessions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design effective solutions.
• Write, test, and deploy mainframe software solutions while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Engage in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other team members.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, actively seeking opportunities for learning and improvement.
• Provide technical support to team members and assist in resolving technical issues as they arise.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
