Position Summary
- Develop, test, and maintain applications using COBOL, CICS, VSAM,IDMS and SORT Utilities
- Support enhancements, maintenance, and bug fixes for existing mainframe applications
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities
- Collaborate with senior team members to understand business requirements and translate them into technical tasks
- Assist with production support, including issue investigation and resolution
- Participate in an on-call support rotation, including occasional weekends or off-hours
- Contribute to API and integration efforts as part of modernization initiatives
- Follow established development standards, processes, and documentation practices
- Collaborate effectively with team members across geographies, including onshore partners
- Continuously build knowledge of mainframe technologies, tools, and business processes
- 2–4 years of experience (or equivalent academic/project experience) in software development
- Foundational knowledge of:
- COBOL
- CICS
- VSAM
- IDMS
- SORT utilities
- Understanding of batch and online processing concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work in a global team environment
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Exposure to mainframe environments through internships, coursework, or prior experience
- Familiarity with RPG / Lotus Notes application development is a plus
- Basic understanding of APIs or integration concepts
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies
- Awareness of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices
- Location: Bangalore, India
- Hybrid work model: Combination of onsite and remote work (as defined by team needs)
- Participation in a shared on-call rotation, with support from experienced team members
- Builds technical proficiency in mainframe technologies and tools
- Delivers assigned work with quality and attention to detail
- Demonstrates continuous learning and responsiveness to feedback
- Collaborates effectively with team members across locations
- Contributes positively to team delivery and operational stability
