The Role

Computer Operators at Kyndryl are key in helping revolutionize the way we operate complex computer systems. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, supervise and control intricate networks and applications, and operate distributed systems in a multi-vendor environment.  
As a Computer Operator you will be on the technical frontline – performing batch operations as per service agreements, analyzing first-level issues across systems, and resolving/routing issues as appropriate. You will also have the opportunity to develop support system management processes specific to customer requirements, ensuring that we provide the highest level of service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve JCL abends, override issues, and symbolic parameter problems. Allocate and manage BIOS, TIF, GDG, and VSAM datasets. Identify ownership of Production and QA jobs and coordinate with appropriate development groups. Perform file out-of-space (FOOS) recovery and support batch/online recovery activities. Coordinate batch job restarts, abend recovery, and customer escalations. Utilize break-glass procedures for emergency production support access when required. Monitor and manage OPC/TWS job scheduling activities including hold/release actions, predecessor/successor analysis, and database lookups. Support NDM/Connect: Direct operations including process monitoring, troubleshooting transfer failures, DR transfers, and client file transfers. Perform PDX activities including installs, promotes, backouts, and password reset support using Power IDs. Manage ITSM incidents, problem tickets, FACHA/Hot Item creation, ticket reassignment, and closure activities. Process TSSR work orders, manage production/QA job requests, and respond to operational emails within SLA timelines. Execute weekend IPL support activities, validate environment availability, and coordinate fixes for out-of-sequence abends. Ensure Production, QA, and Test regions are operational following maintenance and IPL activities.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 4 to 5 years of experience in Mainframe Batch & Console Operations.
  • Strong experience in Mainframe Production Support, including:
    • JCL troubleshooting and abend resolution
    • OPC/TWS scheduling
    • NDM / Connect:Direct
    • VSAM, GDG, DB2, and TSO/ISPF dataset management
    • PDX deployment support
    • ITSM ticket management
    • Batch monitoring and recovery
    • Incident and problem management
    • IPL support activities
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Experience with job scheduling tools, reporting, and logging systems.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, backup and recovery, and basic networking concepts.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Ability to work in a 24x7 production support environment.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and service restoration activities.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
