The mailroom assistant is responsible for performing the day-to-day operations of the mailroom, including receiving, sorting, distributing, scanning, receptionist duties, and any other process as assigned. The position requires that all activities are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
**Responsibilities:**
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages to appropriate departments or individuals.
- Process outgoing mail and packages, including postage, labeling, and scheduling pickups.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
- Monitor mailroom supplies and equipment, and place orders as needed.
- Scanning of all documents
- Various other processes throughout the day, month, and year.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as postal regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to mail delivery or processing.
- Ability to cross train in al mailroom and receptionist areas.
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Previous experience in a mailroom or similar environment.
3. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in mail processing.
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels.
6. Proficiency in using mailroom equipment, such as postage meters, sorting machines, and computer software.
7. Knowledge of postal regulations and shipping procedures.
8. Ability to lift and move heavy packages and stand for extended periods.
9. Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations.
10. Flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for operating mailroom equipment.
