Responsible for a variety of duties primarily related to identifying, sorting and distributing mail in a fast-paced environment with daily deadlines. Also responsible for handling service requests (verbal and written) in addition to providing general support functions.
Job duties include the following:
- Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail according to departmental policies and procedures and within timeliness objectives. Scan and distribute incoming mail packages and other accountable mail items.
- Deliver and pick up mail as scheduled each day to and from designated departments, offices and employees and obtain signatures as required. Deliver special and rush packages as needed.
- Research requests received on shipments or other mail related items and respond promptly. Ship packages for departments and individuals using the most cost effective method.
- Order and distribute office supplies including paper for the building. Must keep accurate records of paper orders and inventory for reconciliation purposes. Must also collect and report copier readings each month.
- Greet customers, vendors and employees in a courteous manner and assist them with their needs including stamp sales and processing vending refunds.
- Complete miscellaneous related duties and projects as assigned and maintain a neat, organized and secure mailroom.
The qualified candidate must be reliable and capable of working independently without direct supervision. Strong customer service, PC and written and verbal communication skills are necessary in addition to a professional demeanor. A minimum of 1-3 years of office related experience is preferred and knowledge of USPS regulations is a plus.
Working Conditions* Lifting and carrying full mail trays and pushing and pulling mail carts
* Must be able to work standing much of the time in addition to bending and stooping
* Some lifting is necessary in order to deliver boxes and work with supplies
