As a Machinist you will be required to complete a machining function from start to finish. You will load fixtures/parts onto the machine, indicate them round and flat to the machine surface. Set tools and generate offsets. Be responsible for recording dimensions throughout the machining process.
What you’ll do:
- Machine products to tight tolerances
- Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed
- Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers
- Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces
- Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators
- Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements
- Work independently and as a team to achieve maximum quality
- Compute and verify dimensions to ensure accuracy
- Observing all applicable safety practices
- Carries out other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- 3 or more years of experience as a Machinist including operating lathes or mills.
- 3 or more years of experience reading/interpreting manuals and technical drawings, utilizing hands tools, and working with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers).
- 3 or more years of experience with manual machine tools operations.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs without assistance
- Ability to stand for 5 plus hours at a time
Desired Skills
Preferred CNC or Manual Machinist Certification
VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) experience
High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision
