SUMMARY: The Machinist III will perform alteration tasks on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA. In addition to that, the machinist will also develop, duplicate, and manufacture tooling equipment as required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prioritize components for repairs to ensure delivery requirements are met on time.
- Apply specialty coatings to aviation components as required.
- Ensures up-to-date knowledge of all tools and proper use of equipment within assigned area of responsibility.
- Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment daily.
- Develop and duplicate tooling using engineering drawings.
- Maintain inventory supplies for daily operation.
- Inspect work completed on aviation components.
- Operate manual lathe and milling machines.
- Operate CNC machines.
- Operate cut-off saws.
- Operate band saws.
- Operate bench grinders.
- Operate belt sanders.
- Operate drill presses.
- Operate the forklift as needed.
- Inspect work completed on aviation components.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of relevant technical experience, including at least 5 years machining (manual and/or CNC).
- OR a technical degree in lieu of 2 years experience.
- Flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
- Maintain an orderly and productive work environment.
- Ability to function in fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.
- CAD design knowledge (Solid Works, Marster Cam, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and scheduling applications.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 9+ years machining experience (manual and CNC).
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing and/or aviation MRO environment.
- Formal Machining training or certificate.
OTHER:
- The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and DOT drug testing.
