As a Machinist, you’ll have responsibility in using shop equipment, performing in process inspections, and using manual skills to complete assigned work.
What you’ll do:
Machines parts utilizing shop related equipment, manual skills may include but are not limited to polishing, lapping, turning, grinding, milling and EDM. CNC machinist operators may additionally engage in program related activities such as writing and modifications.
Maintains responsibility for verifying (before use) shelf life and calibration standards of gages/tools/etc. and consumables used throughout the machining process and in their work area. Performs in process inspection activities of all work to verify conformity of the product, reports non conformances to the Operations Manager.
Coordinates with the Production Manager to maintain work area readiness to include sufficient levels of consumables used for their work area responsibilities.
Works in an independent manner, to complete all assigned tasks by the date(s) scheduled by the production planning department.
Engages in the routine maintenance of the equipment in the work area(s), daily, quarterly and annual.
Assists with other duties as dictated by the Production Manager or supervisor(s).
Maintains performance and quality goals as well as provides for general housekeeping of workspace.
Adheres to all company safety rules at all times while in the workplace.
Position Requirements:
One to two years related experience is preferred and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and write the English language and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to deal with problems involving machining of materials, fixtures tools etc.
Knowledge of basic computer use.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for approximately 25% of the average work day.
