Product Evaluation Systems (PES) assists commercial and industrial clients by providing materials testing services through our full-service testing laboratory. Our capabilities include metallurgy, mechanical testing, chemical testing, failure analysis, machining, and nondestructive testing. We cater our services to each client’s unique testing needs. Our experienced engineers, chemists, metallurgists, and technicians provide assistance to the additive manufacturing, aerospace, steel manufacturing, power generation, mining, and oil & gas industries, among others. Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing the initial preparation of incoming materials prior to testing or further refined cuts.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Accept incoming new order from Log-In room. Review the specific cut sheet and determine first steps for machining.
  • Prepare materials for testing or further refined cuts using saws. Assist Machinist II with manual mills and lathes.
  • Review specimen numbers and determine appropriate disposal methods.
  • Sort excess material.
  • Perform ongoing general machine maintenance, and alert management of any machine repair needs that cannot be performed internally.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Incumbent must sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent will be required to use a computer with keyboard, telephone or handheld mobile device for extended periods of time, and office machinery as needed.
  • Position requires frequent physical exertion. Incumbent will frequently be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, and larger amounts with assistance.
  • Incumbent must be able to read, see, hear, and speak English.
  • Incumbent must be able to use tools including saws, mills, lathes, and hand tools
  • Position requires incumbent to wear personal protective equipment including gloves and safety glasses. Steel-toed boots are preferred.

Work Days and Shifts:

  • First Shift: 6am to 2pm. 
  • Second Shift: 1pm to 9pm
  • Must be willing to work both shifts with proper notice. 
  • Incumbent may need to work outside core operating hours as requested.

Education/Certification(s)/License(s) required:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.

Experience/Other required:

  • Competent with scale and other simple measuring tools.
