Requirements

The Metal Operator is responsible for operating metal fabrication equipment and assisting in the production of metal components used in furniture manufacturing. This position supports the welding department by preparing, forming, and finishing metal parts according to production specifications while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards

Responsibilities

  • Operate woodworking machinery, hydraulic presses, laminating equipment, and other production machines used in furniture manufacturing. 
  • Set up machines according to production specifications and work orders. 
  • Load raw materials and components into machines and remove finished products. 
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure proper function and product quality. 
  • Adjust machine settings and perform minor troubleshooting as needed. 
  • Inspect products for defects, dimensions, and overall quality standards. 
  • Use measuring tools and follow production specifications accurately. 
  • Maintain production records, counts, and downtime documentation. 
  • Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE guidelines. 
  • Keep work area clean and organized in accordance with housekeeping standards. 
  • Assist with material handling and movement of products throughout the facility. 
  • Communicate equipment or quality concerns to supervisors and maintenance personnel. 
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily production goals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
  • Previous experience in furniture manufacturing, woodworking, or machine operation preferred 
  • Ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares) accurately 
  • Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints or work instructions 
  • Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and industrial machinery 
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
