We are looking for Machine Learning Scientist Summer Interns to join our Science organizations in the U.S. Our Science team develops and validates machine-learning models grounded in human physiology, using large-scale wearable sensor data.
As an intern, you will work closely with experienced scientists and engineers on real research and product-facing problems, contributing to analyses, models, and scientific insights that directly impact Oura members.
The internship duration is 3–4 months, with flexible start and end dates between May and September 2026.
We would love to consider you for this role if you have:
- Ongoing studies in a STEM field such as biomedical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, neuroscience, or a related discipline
- Strong Python skills and experience working with scientific or ML libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or similar).
- A foundational understanding of human physiology, particularly as it relates to wearable signals (e.g., cardiovascular function, autonomic nervous system, sleep, thermoregulation, or movement).
- Experience or coursework in signal processing and/or machine learning, especially for time-series data.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical results to a multidisciplinary audience.
- Comfort working independently in a remote environment while collaborating closely with a distributed team.
- Nice to have: familiarity with cloud-based data or ML workflows (e.g., AWS, databases, data pipelines).
- Nice to have: interest in foundation models, fine tuning them and working with time series embeddings.

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
- Region 1 $106,250 - $125,000
- Region 2 $97,750 - $115,000
- Region 3 $91,800 - $108,000
