ML Product Engineer
We’re looking for a seasoned Machine Learning Engineer with a strong software engineering mindset to join our team in building cutting-edge solvers and algorithmic libraries for supply chain challenges—ranging from Promotion Modelling to Capacity Planning and beyond.
As a key contributor, you'll help develop high-performance, scalable algorithms that power automatic decision-making in retail and supply chain contexts. You’ll work closely with data scientists, data engineers, and product teams to ensure our solutions are robust, well-integrated, and deliver tangible value.
What you’ll do for us
Design and implement advanced algorithms to automate retail and supply chain decision-making.
Optimize existing solutions to ensure scalability and maintainability in production environments.
Contribute to internal libraries that integrate seamlessly with the o9 Platform
Support Data Scientists in applying your algorithms effectively
Stay current with academic research and bring relevant ideas into production.
What you’ll have
Experience:
5+ years of experience in the field of Machine Learning or closely related
3+ years of coding experience with either C, C++ or Rust
Experience with large scale solvers is a big plus.
Experience with open source contributions is a plus.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or related field or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Operations, or related field
Skills:
Algorithms and Domain Knowledge:
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business challenges into well-formulated algorithmic solutions.
Familiarity with Supply Chain concepts (e.g., inventory management, promotions, demand planning) is highly desirable.
Language, Tools and Best Practices:
Strong programming skills in Rust, C++, or C, with experience building performant, production-grade systems.
Proficient working knowledge of Python for prototyping and interfaces debugging.
Solid grasp of professional software engineering practices including:
Version control (e.g., Git)
Code reviews and collaborative development workflows
Testing and continuous integration
Familiarity with packaging, dependency management, and releasing production-grade libraries.
Characteristics:
Strong presentation and communications skills. You thrive in a fast paced, challenging environment, where there is much white space and problem solving is at the heart of what drives your analysis.
