The Opportunity
The Manulife/John Hancock AI Team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineer with a strong focus on developing end-to-end AI models and solutions to accelerate and optimize sales and marketing efforts. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Data Scientists, BI Specialists, Sales and Marketing Leaders, and IT partners to execute AI and Advanced Analytics initiatives that will shape the future of our business. The team implements a wide range of traditional ML models as well as cutting-edge LLM/Agentic approaches. As an Machine Learning Engineer, you will lead the development and deployment of innovative approaches to optimize existing and new AI systems, unlocking their full potential to drive maximum business value.
Position Responsibilities:
- Partner with architects and technical leaders to design high-performing GenAI applications aligned with business objectives.
- Develop AI models and applications on cloud platforms like Azure Databricks and AKS, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Build scripts, automation, and analytical tools that accelerate data engineering and model deployment activities.
- Deploy machine learning and GenAI models into production environments, ensuring interoperability with systems, APIs, and data sources.
- Continuously monitor and improve the performance of AI models through data analysis and testing
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI technologies and methodologies, and evaluate their potential applications to improve our AI engineering processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field with 3 years of applicable experience in AI / Data Science, or a combination of education and experience
- Hands on experience with Azure cloud tools, such as Databricks, AI Foundry, AI Search, Kubernetes
- Strong background with Python and SQL, experience using both for data analysis and orchestration.
- Experience in applying analytics and AI tools in Marketing and Sales functions. Insurance industry experience is a plus.
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand stakeholders’ needs
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
