Pipestone County Medical Center and Family Clinic is currently seeking to find qualified individuals to join our growing team. We are committed to providing high quality services to our southwest Minnesota community.

Position Highlights

Summary: The prior authorization representative works in collaboration with appropriate interdisciplinary team members, is responsible for coordinating and clarifying patient-specific financial aspects of care as it relates to prior authorizations for Pipestone Family Clinic, the Edgerton Family Clinic, and Pipestone Specialty Clinics. Will communicate with patients, families, care teams, and providers to assess care plans and work in a compassionate and tactful manner to help facilitate access to and continuity of care. Prior authorizations may include, but is not limited to medications, procedures, diagnostic tests or studies, lab tests, therapies, referrals to other specialty areas, and workman’s compensation.

Required Education:  Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program of training, or graduate of an LPN program of study.

MA applicants: National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Registration as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or National Certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Health Career Association required.  

LPN applicants: Licensed as a Practical Nurse in Minnesota required, or eligible for licensure.

Experience: 2-3 years of experience working in a healthcare office. Familiarity with navigating an EMR. Experience with the prior authorization process preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

Valid Driver’s License when required to perform essential duties at the satellite clinic sites. CPR certified or must be obtained within 1 week of hire. 

The pay range for MA position is $22.09 - $34.24 and LPN position is $25.39 - $39.36.  Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.We offer an excellent benefits package which includes:

Skills Required

  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program or graduation from an LPN program
  • MA applicants must hold CMA certification through AAMA, RMA registration through AMT, or CCMA certification through NHA
  • LPN applicants must be licensed as a Practical Nurse in Minnesota or eligible for licensure
  • Two to three years of experience working in a healthcare office
  • Familiarity with navigating an electronic medical record system
  • Experience with the prior authorization process
  • Valid driver's license when required to perform essential duties at satellite clinic sites
  • CPR certification or ability to obtain it within one week of hire
