The Opportunity:

As the Director of Nursing, you will lead and direct clinical operations within the home health sector, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, and staff performance. Reporting directly to the Head of Nursing, you will act as a senior leader who collaborates with executive leadership to drive strategic initiatives, fosters a culture of excellence and empathy, and champions the growth and development of the clinical team. In this role, you will oversee all clinical operations and provide critical leadership to clinic leads, case managers, and supporting staff, ensuring total alignment with Abby Care’s mission and core values.

A true player-coach, you are equally comfortable setting high-level clinical strategies as you are mentoring Clinical Nurse Managers on daily operational hurdles. Passionate and mission-driven, you have a deep commitment to patient- and family-centered care for children and families with special needs and chronic illnesses. You thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, using your strong communication skills and clinical expertise to foster accountability, learning, and excellence across all your teams.

This is a Full-Time Hybrid opportunity based in Boston, MA.

What you’ll work on:

  • Drive strategic leadership: Develop clinical strategies supporting Abby Care’s mission for children and families with special needs and chronic illnesses, collaborating with leadership to set goals and evaluate outcomes.

  • Oversee daily operations: Manage daily clinical operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and healthcare regulations.

  • Optimize resources and staffing: Align staffing and resource allocation with organizational needs to support optimal patient care and clinical efficacy.

  • Champion clinical excellence: Ensure all clinical staff adhere to evidence-based practices and regulatory standards while maintaining a compassionate patient care environment.

  • Manage and develop teams: Mentor Clinical Nurse Managers, provide tools for effective leadership, and lead performance reviews to foster continuous professional growth.

  • Lead recruitment and retention: Drive recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to build a strong, resilient, and highly skilled clinical team.

  • Advocate for families: Cultivate a welcoming, empathetic environment, addressing patient and family concerns with professionalism to enhance satisfaction.

  • Manage financial budgets: Collaborate with finance to develop, monitor, and manage the clinical budget, implementing cost-effective practices without compromising quality.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance: Oversee quality audits, maintain comprehensive documentation, and coordinate corrective actions to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Navigate policy updates: Stay informed of evolving healthcare regulations, guiding staff through policy updates and maintaining full organizational compliance.

What success looks like:

In 12 months, success means establishing a highly compliant, operationally smooth home health clinical division that consistently hits quality assurance benchmarks. You will have built a resilient, highly engaged team of Clinical Nurse Managers who feel mentored, empowered, and fully aligned with Abby Care's empathetic approach. Ultimately, your leadership will be reflected in stabilized staff retention rates, optimized clinical resource allocation, and a measurably high standard of family-centered care across the Greater Boston market.
