Job Title: M365 SharePoint Engineer

Location: Hybrid position reporting two days into the Chicago Office

Job Type: Internship

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled M365 SharePoint Engineer to lead a project focused on standardizing a SharePoint tenant. This role involves designing and implementing uniform structures, governance models, and best practices across the tenant. The ideal candidate will assess current configurations, optimize site architectures, and establish consistent policies for document management, permissions, and user access. This position also requires close collaboration with stakeholders to align solutions with organizational objectives, while ensuring the SharePoint environment is optimized for performance, scalability, and user adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SharePoint Tenant Assessment and Standardization:
    • Analyze the existing SharePoint tenant configuration to identify inconsistencies and inefficiencies.
    • Develop and implement a standardized structure for site collections, libraries, and metadata.
    • Establish and enforce governance policies, including document management, retention, and security protocols.
  • Design and Implementation:
    • Design scalable and efficient SharePoint site architectures aligned with organizational needs.
    • Implement workflows, permissions, and integrations to support business processes.
    • Optimize the SharePoint environment for performance, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure solutions align with business objectives.
    • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress and challenges.
  • Documentation and Training:
    • Create comprehensive documentation, including governance policies, user guides, and architecture diagrams.
    • Conduct training sessions and workshops to ensure smooth adoption of standardized practices across teams.
  • Ongoing Support and Optimization:
    • Monitor and maintain the standardized SharePoint environment post-implementation.
    • Troubleshoot issues and provide solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
    • Continuously assess and refine the tenant to accommodate evolving organizational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing SharePoint Online environments.
    • Strong expertise in M365 technologies, including PowerShell scripting, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
    • Experience with SharePoint governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep knowledge of SharePoint Online architecture, site collections, and content management.
    • Proficiency in SharePoint migration tools and techniques.
    • Familiarity with integration between SharePoint and other M365 apps (e.g., Teams, OneDrive).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.
  • Knowledge of various project management methodologies.
