 Job Responsibilities

Technology Development

  • Develop novel composite preforming processes using weaving, tufting, braiding, fiber placement, and related textile-based manufacturing methods.
  • Innovate with 2D/3D woven textiles, unidirectional fabrics, and multi-material preforms.
  • Lead the design, verification, and validation of new materials, products, technologies, fabrication methods, and test programs.

Process & Manufacturing Support

  • Identify opportunities for improving existing processes in collaboration with manufacturing engineering.
  • Assess cost/benefit of proposed improvements and implement approved changes.


  • Monitor industry technologies and identify new techniques beneficial to AEC operations.

Customer & CrossFunctional Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer technical staff and represent AEC professionally.
  • Provide technical updates, presentations, and communications to stakeholders.

Leadership & Organizational Support

  • Serve as a technical mentor and leader within the engineering organization.
  • Support technology road‑mapping and organizational process improvement initiatives.

Business Development & Program Support

  • Support proposal development and quotation activities for new business opportunities.
  • Update quotations throughout project lifecycle based on scope changes.
Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications & Characteristics

Education & Experience

  • BS in Engineering (Textiles, Composites, Mechanical preferred); advanced degree desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of composites manufacturing experience, preferably in textile/weaving environments.

Technical Expertise

  • Expertise in textile-based composite manufacturing and equipment.
  • Experience designing and developing composite structures, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of composite materials, mechanical behavior, structural testing, and industry specifications.
  • Knowledge of process control tools (root cause analysis, SPC, process qualification).

Tools & Software

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with textile design tools (Fibersim, NedGraphics, TexGen, EAT).
  • Experience with statistical tools (Minitab, MATLAB, Python).

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret scientific and statistical data.
  • Highly action-oriented with strong decision-making and customer focus.

Certifications & Eligibility

  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials, mechanical, civil, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2–5 years of engineering experience in the aerospace or composites industry, with at least 4 years in the area of specialty or equivalent
  • Experience designing, developing, and manufacturing aerospace composite structures and processes
  • Experience with composite performance and process analysis
  • Proficiency with CAD and engineering analysis software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, PAM-RTM, LIMS, FiberSIM, or PAM-FORM
  • Strong understanding of mechanics and strength of materials
  • Knowledge of material characterization, destructive testing, and nondestructive composite testing methods
  • Familiarity with new product introduction standards, aerospace certification methods, and design allowable development
  • Ability to lead, mentor, communicate, and develop technical capabilities within an organization
  • Proven problem-solving skills in a team environment
  • Willingness and ability to learn and perform hands-on work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Advanced engineering degree
