The RoleAs an M&A Intern , you will work directly with Solen’s investment team across the full deal lifecycle. This is a hands-on role designed for candidates who want real exposure to how software businesses are sourced, evaluated, acquired, and operated by a long-term investor.
You will contribute meaningfully to live transactions, develop core analytical and research skills, and gain a practical understanding of private equity decision-making in a small, high‑performance team environment.
This role is based in our Lisbon office and is ideal for candidates seeking a rigorous introduction to private equity and software investing.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeal Sourcing & Research
- Research and screen potential B2B software acquisition targets
- Map software verticals and identify attractive niche markets
- Support sourcing outreach to founders and intermediaries
Analysis & Evaluation
- Conduct business, market, and financial analysis of potential investments
- Assist with valuation work and financial modelling
- Prepare internal investment materials, summaries, and briefing notes
Transaction Support
- Support due diligence efforts during live transactions
- Help organize and analyze data shared by prospective portfolio companies
- Gain exposure to post‑acquisition strategy and portfolio company initiatives
This role is well suited to candidates who:
- Are currently studying toward, or have recently completed, a degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a related field
- Have a strong interest in private equity, M&A, and long-term investing
- Are analytical, structured, and comfortable working independently
- Pay close attention to detail and value clear, precise work
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English (additional European languages are a plus)
- Are motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment
- Hands‑on exposure to real M&A transactions within a private equity setting
- Experience analyzing and valuing B2B software businesses
- Insight into long‑term ownership models and value creation strategies
- Direct interaction with experienced investors and operators
