The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) assesses clients and provides nursing care in accordance with physicians’ orders and treatment objectives and as instructed by supervisor.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
- Report and record any changes observed in client condition or behavior, including unusual incidents. Identify, report and assist with the management of emergencies.
- Take and record accurate vital signs and perform urinalysis testing. Chart routine information e.g. vital signs, client progress and daily activities.
- Make rounds every 30 minutes for 72 hours on withdrawal management clients, document and record withdrawal symptoms.
- Observe and document client self- administration of medications.
- Administer anti- overdose medications as needed

- Handle clients’ personal belongings as directed.
- Run errands within the facility and respond to requests for assistance from the nurse in charge, the DON, and other authorized staff.
- Attend meetings and participates in committees as assigned.

The Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) assesses patients and provides nursing care in accordance with physicians’ orders and treatment objectives and as instructed by supervisor. The LPT works under the supervision of an RN in a substance use detox subacute hospital.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
- Make presentations and facilitate educational groups & sessions.
- Assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care plan.
- Assess and document patient treatment progress, medical or behavioral changes, and unusual incidents.
- Monitor patient management and treatment. May be assigned to provide continual observation of confused patients.
- Safely and accurately administer medications.
- Identify and assist in management of emergencies.
- Obtain and record vital signs. Chart routine information, vital signs, and daily activities.
- Monitor and document withdrawal symptoms.
- Conduct medication audits and destroy outdated medications per policy

- Valid LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) or LPT (Licensed Psychiatric Technician) license
