Job Summary:

The Entry Level Technician functions as a technician who can perform oil changes, tire rotations, and basic automotive maintenance.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, following dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnoses the cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
  • Communicates with Parts Department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
  • Inspects and test drives newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions.
  • Installs optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean.
  • Notifies the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place.
  • Safely operates all tools and equipment, reporting safety issues immediately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Enthusiasm for the Automotive Dealership industry with a focus on customer service.
  • The capability of operating standard shift vehicles.
  • Reliable with a solid work ethic.
  • High-Volume Shop Experience.
  • Excels in maintaining and repairing vehicles.
  • Superior customer service.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Must be able pass pre-employment screen (background & hair follicle drug test)

 

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Experience in a dealership or similar environment.
  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. regularly.
  • Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
  • Good vision to inspect repair work.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
