Under the direction and guidance of the registered nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Physician performs a variety of clinical/ clerical duties and tasks to provide effective patient care.
- Taking vital signs: Measuring and recording blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate.
- Drawing blood: Performing phlebotomy to collect blood samples for testing.
- Assisting with procedures: Helping physicians during examinations and minor surgical procedures.
- Collecting samples: Gathering urine, stool, and other specimens for laboratory testing.
- Maintaining equipment: Ensuring medical equipment is clean, sterilized, and in good working order.
- Stocking supplies: Keeping track of medical supplies and restocking as necessary.
- Assisting with patient flow: Helping manage the flow of patients through the clinic to minimize wait times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education Required HS Diploma or Equivalence
- License/Certification/Registration(s) Required Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program
- Experience/Skills Required- One (1) year previous experience in a medical setting of relevant experience required. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Bilingual preferred. Knowledge of Computer Technology preferred. Successful completion of St. Barnabas Hospital orientation.
