Available Positions- Full-Time: 32+ hours per week
- Part-Time: 20+ hours per week
- PRN (as needed) positions
Benefits become available for employees who work at least 20 hours per week.
Compensation and Benefits- Base Pay range: $29 - $34 per hour
- Sign-On Bonus: $10,000, paid out in increments
- Daily Pay: Access your earned pay on a daily basis before the regular payday
- Benefits Start: After 30 days of employment (includes insurance and paid time off)
- 2nd Shift Differential: +$3.00 per hour
- 3rd Shift Differential: +$2.00 per hour
- Weekend Shift Differential: +$4.00 per hour for all shifts
- Option for $2 additional pay in lieu of benefits
The staff nurse’s primary responsibility is to provide care for residents under the supervision and guidance of the residents’ attending physicians, the Director of Nursing Services, and the facility’s Medical Director. The role focuses on treatments and medication administration and involves assisting in modifying treatment plans to meet residents’ physical and psychosocial needs. All duties must be performed in accordance with established medical practices, state requirements, and the policies and goals of Lutheran Services Carolinas (LSC).
Essential Functions- Prepare, administer, and document medications for residents safely and accurately, following the six rights of medication administration.
- Administer medications orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, and via G-tube; administer IV fluids and medications under direct RN supervision if required.
- Comply with LSC procedures for documentation, including medication administration, physicians’ orders, nurses’ notes, and other resident care using the electronic medical record.
- Follow LSC procedures for drug receipt and storage, ensuring proper labeling, timely reordering, returning discontinued medications, and verifying controlled medications.
- Maintain security of drug rooms and carts, and adhere to guidelines for drug and biological storage.
- Report changes in residents’ conditions promptly and appropriately. Immediately report any suspected abuse or crimes against residents.
- Report any exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous chemicals, as well as any accidents or near-misses, to a supervisor as soon as possible.
- Follow and participate in resident care plans and the care planning process as required.
- Education: Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved LPN/RN program.
- Experience: No experience required.
- Specialized Skills:
- Ability to remain cordial and tactful at all times and promote positive communication with residents, families, peers, and others while maintaining confidentiality.
- CPR certification or ability to obtain certification.
Licensure: Must be a licensed nurse in the state of North Carolina (LPN or RN).
Preferences (Optional)- Two years of experience as an LPN or RN preferred.
- Computer skills preferred; willingness to learn electronic resident documentation required.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- May involve prolonged standing or walking, with the need to transport objects.
- May require occasional bending, squatting, or repetitive reaching.
- Ability to assist with repositioning and transferring individuals of varying weights using safe lifting procedures.
- Ability to move throughout the facility as needed.
